Sunrise of Westbourne Wins Regional Award
There is much emphasis placed on dementia in the media at the moment, with the government telling us to go to their website for information, and celebrities such as Terry Pratchett making these conditions more human to us all.
Although there is much talk of Alzheimer’s and other dementias there is still quite a limited provision of specialist care for seniors in this arena, which is quite surprising since there are more than 700,000 people in the UK who have some form of dementia according to the Alzheimer’s Society.
Sunrise Senior Living, almost since its inception more than 25 years ago, has made special provisions for dementia care within its residences. The ‘Reminiscence Neighbourhood’ at Sunrise is a separate part of the building within which the emphasis is placed on helping those that have memory loss to remember and therefore to feel more comfortable and happy.
The building design, particular therapeutic features and the team of specialist carers all work together to create pleasant days for residents.
